Having personally undergone a twin kidney and pancreas transplant after rapid complete kidney failure due to diabetes, Andrew’s story is close to the hearts of everyone at TR as last year, a dear friend and TR colleague was taken after a lengthy battle with kidney cancer. As a result, TR was keen to do something positive for the charity.
TR has donated an Amazon Echo Show to be auctioned later this year at the Silverstone Festival. This high-profile family event offers a weekend of music, food and of course historic motorsport, and the auction will be raising money for research aimed at transforming treatments for kidney patients.
If things don’t change, kidney disease will be the fifth highest cause of life years lost by 2040, but with heightened awareness, effective research and, crucially, greater availability of transplant surgeries, things can and will change.
There are over three million people living with the most severe stages of chronic kidney disease, with millions of others having to cope with the early stages of the condition. TR is proud to be involved in the fight to make things better.
