TR Fastenings cements position in North East automotive sector with leading role in NEAA Expo 2018
TR supported the NEAA as ‘Meet the Buyer’ sponsor at the annual exhibition
TR Fastenings (TR: part of Trifast plc), the global manufacturer and distributor of industrial fastenings, sponsored the ‘Meet the Buyers’ event at this year’s North East Automotive Alliance (NEAA) Expo on 27th September. The event was held at an exciting new venue this year– the Beacon of Light in Sunderland – with more than 550 visiting delegates and 130 exhibitors across the show hall.
Some of the biggest names in the region’s impressive automotive community were present at the NEAA Expo, including members of the Automotive Council Supply Chain Group. The group’s members include the Department for International Trade (DiT) Automotive Sector Team, the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK, Nissan, Jaguar Land Rover, Adient Seating UK, Warwick Manufacturing Group, Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), BorgWarner and ZF Lemforder UK.
TR is a full service provider to the automotive industry, specialising in supplying components to automotive Tier 1 and Tier 2 businesses both in the UK and worldwide. Its global reach now extends to 31 sites with manufacturing facilities accredited to ISO 9001 and 3 to the latest IATF 16949. TR was keen to exhibit at the NEAA and sponsor the ‘Meet the Buyers’ event in order to showcase its involvement in the continuing success story generated by Nissan and its supply chain in the region.
TR also hosted a table at the pre-event dinner on Wednesday 26th September and enjoyed productive conversations about the fast-moving developments taking place in the automotive sector with guests from Unipres, Nifco, Arlington Automotive and Gestamp.
Lawrence Davies MBE, chief executive of DiT Automotive Sector Team, who delivered the keynote speech at the pre-event dinner said: “The North East is a major area for our automotive sector. A third of total build comes from Sunderland, therefore it is crucial we have opportunities like this to show off the expertise of the region.
“I can hardly believe the growth of this Expo in four years and having so many innovative companies here reflects the importance of this region and the technology of the future.”
The expo itself was extremely busy with good footfall to the TR stand. Greg Lynch, Automotive Business Development Manager for TR Fastenings, who is based in the North East, commented: “We were delighted to make numerous connections with existing and new clients and we are already having very positive conversations about new projects and orders. The NEAA provides crucial opportunities to showcase the automotive expertise of the North East region and we are honoured to play a part in this.”
TR Fastenings set to grow North East automotive connections at NEAA Expo
Global fastenings manufacturer and distributor TR Fastenings (TR) is maximising its involvement with the North East Automotive Alliance (NEAA) by taking part in its annual exhibition, where it will also sponsor a key part of the show. This will be the second time TR has had a stand at the show.
The expo, which will take place at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light on 28th September, will play host to the numerous businesses, manufacturers and traders that make up the hugely successful automotive industry in the North East. As the only fastener firm present at the show, TR has a fantastic opportunity to connect with businesses and share its knowledge and capabilities relating to the market. The company is also sponsoring the ‘meet the buyers’ segment, which facilitates targeted meetings between suppliers and partners.
From its North East premises in Newton Aycliffe, TR supports a large number of Tier 1 and Tier 2 automotive manufacturers. It provides a comprehensive range of industrial fasteners, C class components and provides an end2end service. TR is part of a global group producing over 8 billion parts per annum in 27 locations worldwide ensuring they can manage global platforms as required seamlessly.
TR’s operations in the North East have recently been strengthened further by the arrival of Greg Lynch in May, who is now Automotive Business Development Manager for the region. Part of Greg’s role is to raise TR’s profile amongst the Tier 1s in the North East, emphasising its global capabilities and ability to facilitate cross-continent sales and distribution.
Malcolm Hildyard, Automotive Sales Manager at TR, comments: “With over 240 automotive companies operating in the North East, there is a vast opportunity for us to grow existing relationships and forge new connections. Our NEAA membership plays a crucial role in how we raise and maintain our profile and we are really looking forward to returning to the expo, which is a fantastic showcase for the industry and the region. The North East continues to make a vital contribution to automotive success both in the UK and globally, and we are thrilled to be part of that process.”
TR Fastenings Participates in North East Automotive Alliance Expo
TR Fastenings’ automotive expertise was on show last month at the North East Automotive Alliance (NEAA) 2016 Expo at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light.
The automotive team from TR in Newton Aycliffe participated in ‘Meet the Buyer’ activities, talking with a number of potential new clients, and actively promoted TR’s automotive fasteners and C-class components, in both metal and plastic, on the company’s exhibition stand. Promotional material on the stand also highlighted TR’s global presence and multiple manufacturing sites.
The NEAA Expo
was inaugurated last year as an annual platform to show off the strength and depth of the North East’s automotive industry and to help firms win new business. This year the event featured keynote speeches from senior experts in automotive manufacturing, supply chains, and purchasing; a wide range of industry-specific workshops; and three exhibition areas where more than 65 companies promoted their products and services.
More than 350 delegates attended the sell-out event, just down the road from Nissan Motor Manufacturing UK’s plant, including representatives from big industry players such as Nissan, Jaguar Land Rover, Komatsu UK and Cummins UK.
Malcolm Hildyard, Automotive Sales Manager, TR Fastenings North East Division, said: “As a new member of the North East Automotive Alliance, and the only member in our area of expertise, we saw the Expo as an important opportunity to promote our business. We were able to schedule meetings with representatives of several big companies, which was a welcome chance to raise awareness of our capabilities, as well as taking the opportunity to visit other stands to establish potential opportunities. The NEAA has built a strong network and it’s good to be part of it.”
NEAA CEO Paul Butler commented: “The size and scope of our second expo reflects the fact that the NEAA is now the largest automotive cluster in the UK and one of, if not the, fastest growing clusters in Europe. The expo is all about raising the profile of the North East automotive sector and we’re delighted more organisations and VIPs visited this year from outside the region.”
